Sedona: Anniversary Getaway

I can't believe Kiwi and I have been married for 2 years! To celebrate our second anniversary, we headed up to the red rocks of Sedona for some eating, drinking, hiking and relaxing. It's cliche but true, time flies when you're having fun. Happy two years my love!

*Kiwi would like me to clarify that by hiking, I mean stopping every five seconds to take photos while he patiently waits for me. Folks, I've got myself a keeper.

a weekend in paris

Last week was a little surreal to say the least! After spending less than 72 hours in Paris, I caught a flight home so I could be at my new job on Monday. Even though our visit was a short one, we had a wonderful time strolling through the Luxembourg Gardens and sampling the pastries at La Patisserie des Reves. We stayed in this charming little apartment in the 6th arrondissement that was just steps away from the beautiful Saint-Sulpice church and macaron heaven, Pierre Herme. And of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower. Her twinkling lights and soft, golden glow always leave me spellbound. Paris, je t'aime.

*I'll post photos from the wedding {the reason for our trip} later this week. Wait until you see the bride's dress!

packing for paris...

Well kids, it's shaping up to be a busy week! Kiwi and I were invited to his cousin's wedding in Paris this weekend so we decided to be spontaneous and booked a couple of last minute tickets. We leave on Thursday and arrive home late Sunday night. Talk about a whirlwind trip! So my question is this... If you had one weekend to spend in Paris what would you do? I'd love to hear your suggestions and recommendations!

*Kiwi and I spent two weeks in Paris for our honeymoon back in 2009... You can see the photos here if you'd like!

movie night: al fresco

Someday when Kiwi and I have a yard and not just a balcony, this is how I would like to spend my summer evenings. The twinkling lights, the comfy cushions and a big bowl of popcorn.... Now that's what I call a movie night!

every day is valentine's day

This weekend was one for the books. It started out with a trip to the VNSA book sale and lunch at La Piccola Cucina. That was followed by a visit to the Willo District for their annual historical homes tour and a sweet treat at Sweet Republic. Last night we spent a quiet Valentine's Day with a heart shaped pizza, a bottle of wine and a romantic movie. Life is good friends, life is good.

let there be light

{image via we heart it}

We have been without power for just over 24 hours. Why you ask? Because my darling husband forgot to pay our electricity bill. The poor man just totally forgot {in his defense, he's been crazy busy at work lately}... We quickly corrected the mistake, but it took another 12 hours for them to come turn our power back on. Who is in charge of paying bills in your household? Kiwi and I obviously need to work on our system.

*Kiwi and I decided I would make a terrible pioneer woman. It's so good to have my hair dryer back.

decor dilemma: wall art

When I have time off from school I tend to get a little antsy. I always need to have a project or two going to keep me entertained. A conversation with my friend Rachael got me thinking about picture frames and art work... Kiwi and I have been trying to figure out what to hang over our bed for months now. What's your vote... frame wall, chalkboard canvases or mirror wall? Maybe a combination of all three? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

*I know people talk about "nesting" after you get married... but I've always been a sucker for a good home project.
