here comes the bride: part II

i really heart the j. crew wedding dresses. it's so nice to have contemporary and affordable options! i've always loved the feather chiffon number but, taffeta always has a special place in my heart.

in bloom

this is exactly how i have our wedding flowers envisioned. big, overflowing heaps of glorious, bright pink bougainvillea. i mean, how hard could it be to get them? they grow like weeds on the side of every freeway in the valley.
*i told my mom that we could probably just go out and snip a few branches from said freeway bushes and no one would miss them... she said no. apparently it might be illegal and we could get hit by a car. oh well.

le sigh

thank you, dreamy french traveling boy who came to our office yesterday with a toothache... we are all still gossiping about you today. have fun on your trip around the world.
*why can we (americans) not travel the world for two years at a time?
*kiwi said, "i bet he smelled like cheese and surrender." i said, "no, he smelled like dreamy and adventure." (i think he was a little jealous)

hey mr. dj

my mom gave me the heads up on this great piece NPR's stephen thompson did on wedding music. it's a little moody, a little melancholy, but it really is perfect. right on NPR, right on. my absolute faves are: Old 97's, "Question" and Radney Foster & Abra Moore, "I'm In"
*check out east side bride for some more slammin' wedding tunes.

here comes the bride: part I

okay, so i may have already found a dress... $200 calvin klein, (this is not a joke). but, i saw these bridal alternatives from thread (via snippet & ink) and i had to check it out. the breck is my favorite, followed closely by the liddy. however, i have reservations about the strapless look. (if you don't fear the armpit fat, you are a liar). simple, classic, affordable. nary a bead or rhinestone in sight.

need a little namaste?

i'm really looking forward to yoga tonight. can't get enough downward dog.
*kiwi and i are thinking about india for the honeymoon, more on that later...

let them eat cake

i think these ginger cupcakes with cream cheese frosting would be just perfect for a wedding. i thought that maybe i would be able to make them myself for the big day... my wise/married friend brooke assured me this was lunacy. i suppose we could always go the sprinkles route. in the mean time, i'll be making a practice batch of these lovelies.

workin' nine to five

a patient at work just gave me a fun new trivia fact... did you know new zealand was the first country to institute the eight hour work day? previously, it was sixteen hours! no thank you. those kiwis are sure on to something.
*most kiwis get five weeks of vacation per year. let's get with the program america.

under the big top

i've been dreaming about our tent. it's going to be lovely. it's all about the light. the folks over at tri-rentals are going to do an amazing job. james really knows his stuff.

pay it forward

i was chatting with a sweet patient at work yesterday about the book she was reading... i loved the movie. it was so beautifully shot, the lighting is stunning. kate winslet manages to be severe and beautiful at the same time. but, i always like the books best. at the end of her appointment she had finished reading and gifted me with the book. i will be sure to pass it on to a fellow book lover. she made my day. i heart my job, our patients and books.

annie get your gun

i may have purchased this little beauty for the wedding. i am smitten. i hope kiwi feels the same.
*i know blair waldorf would agree with me.
*yes, i also occasionally watch gossip girl. which brother jared assures me, you should not be allowed to watch if you have a college degree. guilty again.

guilty pleasure

guilty as charged. yes, i watch the city. i am anxiously awaiting the season finale and seeing as i don't have cable t.v. i must wait until it's posted online tomorrow. sigh. but, i did watch the trailer for the hills season 5 and i am ashamed to admit, it gave me goosebumps.

this is what cool looks like

thomas and d'arcy's wedding was at the incredibly hip underground embassy in clovis. i'm pretty sure this place is the coolest thing that has ever happened to new mexico. cristy cross took these fantastic photos.

waiting with bated breath

going to the wedding in new mexico this weekend made me realize just how excited i am to marry this man. i can't wait to start a life together.
*my excitement waned when upon returning home i discovered his new health kick involves eating cloves of raw organic garlic.
*he quickly regained my affection by doing my taxes and finishing our save the dates while i was gone. he's a keeper.

ode to green chile

the trip to new mexico was delicious. green chile on everything. green chile, how do i love thee? let me count the ways...

now that's love

i asked kiwi if he would laugh at me if i started a blog... he said, not to your face. now that's love.
