update: project 365

{signs of spring}

I have finally found a home for my Project 365 photos... You can see them all here! It has been pretty challenging to find something to photograph every. single. day. But, it really does make you stop and take a look at your surroundings. I am loving the experience so far.

*Are any of you participating in the project? How are you organizing and displaying your photos?

made from scratch

{my new favorite place}

{caffeine fix}

{croissant goodness}

Scratch might be my new favorite place in the valley... Mom and I discovered it on Friday when she called me craving cappuccino and a croissant. All their pastries are made from scratch (hence the name)... and everything looked amazing. I can't wait to go back for lunch so I can try the smoked duck breast and walnut sandwich!

*Kiwi had the audacity to call me a pastry snob... I suppose that's what happens when you spend your honeymoon in Paris soaking up all that buttery, flaky, deliciousness.

a parisian birthday party

My sweet little sister is turning 13 next weekend! She has her heart set on a chic Parisian birthday party. The plan as of right now, is to decorate aprons and cook crepes for a group of her girlfriends. After crepes and cake we're planning a fun, Paris inspired polaroid shoot so the girls can take home a little souvenir. But, we still have a few questions...

What should we do for decor? Fresh flowers always go a long way in my book, but she is 13 and I feel like she's going to want a bit more pizzaz. What are some other French inspired dishes that are fun and easy for the girls to make? Do you know of any Parisian party games? If you have any other ideas I would love to hear them! I want to help make this birthday extra special for her.

*She has already hired me to be the party photographer... I'll be bringing the Fuji Instax for sure.

i heart kiwi and rugby

Every year Kiwi and I spend Valentine's weekend at the IRB Sevens international rugby tournament... Nothing says I love you like two days of eating, drinking and rugby watching. Kiwi's beloved New Zealand lost to Samoa in the final, but we still had an amazing time in Las Vegas. What did you do this Valentine's Day?

What on earth is rugby you ask? Check out this video... and yes, rugby men are extremely handsome and they have accents.

*In case you were wondering about the spending hiatus... I didn't buy any overpriced souvenir junk or gamble a single penny. Impressed?
I thought you might be.

i heart used book sales

There are few things I love more than the annual VNSA used book sale... An entire warehouse chock-full of all my favorite titles, all for less than a dollar. It's pretty much my idea of heaven. The diehards line up the night before so they can have first pick of the goods. It's pretty intense.

Sadly, Kiwi and I won't be able to attend this year because we're going to be out of town. If you happen to be in the Phoenix area this weekend can I bribe you to pick up a stack of books for me? Pretty please?

the spending hiatus

Joslyn over at Simple Lovely is kicking off her annual spending hiatus again... and this time, I'm joining in! I am really feeling the need to reset my spending habits. When you are planning a wedding sometimes it feels like all you do is write checks (really big, scary checks) and to top it all off... I'm back in school again, sans paycheck.

So here's the deal... no unnecessary purchases for two months. What constitutes unnecessary you ask? Well, it's different for everyone but for me, it means no more popping into Target for toothpaste and leaving with a shopping cart full of bargain footwear. No more stopping by my beloved Anthropologie, just to see what's on sale.

I think it's going to be really great to rediscover what I already have. My mom is a firm believer in "shopping your own closet" and getting creative with what you own. If I am tempted to buy something frivolous, I'm going to write it down in a notebook. At the end of the hiatus I will revisit the list and see if those items I was dying to have are actually well thought out purchases, or just passing fancy.

*I'm so excited to see how this will go... let me know if you are joining in too!

our wedding: very married

{he makes me laugh}

Fairy- tale (adjective): Marked by seemingly unreal beauty, perfection, luck or happiness.

That pretty much sums up how Kiwi and I felt about our engagement, wedding and honeymoon. We are so incredibly lucky to have found one another. I don't know what I would do without this man. I am so thankful, from the bottom of my heart, for our amazing family and friends that have been there for us every step of the way...I don't know what we would do without you. And thank you to all of you that we have never met, but have listened to me ramble about the whole wedding planning process... you all had such sweet and wonderful things to say. I can't wait to share our adventures in newlywed life.

"If I get married, I want to be very married."
-Audrey Hepburn

*This photo pretty much sums up our relationship.... Thank you to the incredibly talented Brittany Strebeck for so perfectly capturing all the little moments that made our wedding special. You did an amazing job!
