vintage steamer trunk

{image via design sponge}

I am in love with the idea of using a vintage steamer trunk as a fun alternative to the traditional side table. The best part? The trunk belonged to the homeowner's great grandmother and even has her name printed on the side. Stylish and sentimental... My favorite combination.

  1. i love these people who use non-furniture as furniture. it never seems to work out as neatly for me.

  2. i was obsessed with using a steamer trunk as a coffee table and i found the coolest one at my local antique store, but it was more than 300 bucks and i'm kind of broke. plus, it was so old that i would have felt bad placing beer bottles and iced coffee on it. oh well. love the trunk as side table.

  4. I love that! My friend has a big old wine barrel that he picked up somewhere and put a glass top on it for a table. It rocks.

    (seriously though, that trunk has to be worth like five gazillion dollars)

  14. YEs! I love the look of an old trunk in the bedroom or living space. Restoration Hardware has a cool one that doubles as a media unit, you can keep your TV in there and one of the side rolls up! Very cool.
