art appreciation

My mom, sister and I spent Sunday afternoon checking out the new collections at the Phoenix Art Museum. I absolutely loved the Modern Mexican Painting exhibit and Peter Wegner's incredible Guillotine of Sunlight and Guillotine of Shade. The installation is made up of 1.4 million pieces of recycled paper! Totally amazing. I forgot how inspiring it is to just meander through the different galleries, taking it all in.

*Where do you go when you need a little inspiration?

  2. I really need to get to a gallery again soon. I'm ashamed to admit the last time I was at one was when I was in college...and that was *$#@#(# years ago. :(

  4. I haven't been to an art museum in awhile, but that should change. I need to explore my new city some more - we have great museums here!

  5. How incredible-I love SF's museums for a bit of inspiration, although I feel like the work is much darker than the pieces in Phoenix!

  10. i LOVE the 3rd picture! i wanna be standing there. places filled with art win for inspiration in my book, as do places with/of nature. the getty museum in LA is the best of all worlds of inspiration: books, art, huge garden, amazing views, in the city but above it. i think i need to plan a day there soon just thinking about it.
